The ELISpoon XL is a self-stabilising soup spoon for people whose hand or arm movement makes it difficult to carry food to the mouth without spilling. Counterweights and rotation axes built into the handle allow the bowl to remain level while the hand and wrist twist, bend or shake, and a stopper restrains the spoon angle so food is presented in a position that is easy to take. The spoon is entirely mechanical, with no electrical parts, battery or charger to manage, and a ring supplied in the box lets a strap or an existing grip aid be fitted to the handle. The XL is the soup spoon size, 21 cm long and 10.5 cm wide overall with a bowl of 5.5 cm by 3.7 cm, weighing 78 g, and it can be used in either hand by children or adults.

Keeping the bowl level is often the difference between finishing a meal independently and waiting for assistance, and the ELISpoon achieves it mechanically, so there is nothing to charge or switch on beforehand. At 78 g with a handle 1.9 cm in diameter it remains manageable for a weak grip, and the attachment ring allows a strap or familiar grip aid to be added.
